Edo, As We Approach 2023 Election

The State of Edo, As we Approach 2023 Election

...all we need, to change the narrative

By: Oriaifoh Godwins

Hellooooo, the good people of Edo state;hear me, and hear me well.

We are currently living in a very precarious time; the situation we find ourselves in, was brought upon us by us. We must stand together to change the situation.

I wrote several articles in time past, especially during Political periods like this, but many paid deaf ears to it; Today however, we are where we are because of the choices we made.

We now have yet another opportunity to change the narrative. We currently have our destiny in our hands, and I only hope we will make the best of this TIDE in our affairs.

My people of Edo state, the Executive organ of government CAN DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, without the approval of the Legislative arm. This means that, the College of Education, Igueben cannot be shut down without the approval of the Legislative arm. Ambrose Alli University, AAU, Ekpoma, cannot be endlessly managed by a Special Intervention Team, SIT, without the approval of the Legislative arm.The Members of Legislative arm of government, are the ones that lobby for physical projects for their constituencies, for the benefit of the people they represent.

We cannot continue to have endless security challenges all over the Edo state if we have active members in Edo state House of Assembly.

Our House of Assembly, in Edo state could have been able to at least make some legislations that will eventually add some  qualities to the lives of people in the state, if they were active and up to their expected tasks. THE BALL IS AGAIN IN OUR COURT as we prepare to elect new people to represent us in Edo state House of Assembly.

Going by all the above, for us to progress as a state, we need vibrant men and women, not feeble minded errand boys to represent our constituencies. We need selfless men and women that have the passion to impart on the lives of the people they represent. We need legislators that can think outside the box, not those that are only concerned with what comes into their pockets. WE NEED TRUE DEMOCRATS that will at all time, place the interest of their people ahead of any pecuniary gain. We need MASTERS THAT ARE READY TO SERVE, not MASTERS THAT ARE READY TO LORD IT OVER THE PEOPLE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO SERVE.

Finally, because of the peculiarity of Edo state House of Assembly, we need those with the nerve of steel, with the requisite experience in Edo state House of Assembly to change the narrative.
