EDO HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY TO VENTURE INTO AGRICULTURE

Edo State House of Assembly, EDHA, will soon venture into the cultivation of crops and rearing of animals as a way of contributing its quota to increasing the production of food in Edo State.
This revelation was made by Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Engr Victor Edoror when the concerned Staff of Edo State College of Agriculture Iguoriakhi in Ovia South Local Government Area paid him a courtesy visit to congratulate him on his election for a second term as well as his ultimate election as a Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly.
Speaking, the Vice President, Academic Staff Union of the Institution, Comrade Otabor Felix, requested the Speaker to use his office to influence the setting up of a College of Education in Edo Central, saying there is need for a substantive provost who is knowledgeable in administrating the Office, to be appointed for the College of Agriculture as financial recklessness on the part of the administrators of the College has been the order of the day in recent time.
The spokesman further said the Management of the College, arbitrarily transfer Staff, hijacked the Management of the cooperative society and manipulated the books of account of the co-operative.
In his response, Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror lamented over the plight of the Staff of the institution, saying; “it is pitiable to hear that the co-operative society of the college, that is supposed to be rendering services in the interest of the Staff, has been hijacked by the management. But, be rest assured that we will do everything possible to look into the situation and do the needful.”  Rt. Hon. Edobor however added that the management can transfer staff at will and such transfers should not be seen as witch hunting. He however advised that letters of complaints from the concerned Staff should be made available to the House.
Other members that accompanied the Vice President to the Speaker’s Office include Comrade Ehijie Julius, Comrade Aloma Okondoh, Comrade Andy Aguele, Comrade Onyema Ugonma, Comrade Martins and Comrade Rawlings Odigie.

EDO LOCAL GOVERNMENT PENSIONERS CRY OUT OVER UNPAID BENEFITS

Edo State Local Government pensioners recently went on a protest match to Edo State House of Assembly, EDHA, to register their grievances over nonpayment of their pensions and gratuities.
In the course of their protest match, they carried placards with inceptions like; “Edo State Local Government Pensioners are not paid since 2009 till date,” “Non payment of pension and death arrears.”
Speaking, Mr. Enabulele Man, the spokesperson for the pensioners, said; some pensioners that worked for over thirty years before retiring are now in pains as a result of the nonpayment of what is entitled to them. He lamented that some of them are currently in hospital and have no money to pay their hospital bills while some have died not collecting their gratuity and pension entitlements.
Responding to the protesters, Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror, empathised with the pensioneers saying, it is painful and disheartening to hear that pensioneers are undergoing this magnitude of pains and sufferings. Saying; “this is Edo State House of Assembly, and every member of the House are here because you voted for them. Your voting for us, signifies that you are asking us to represent you in the law making arm of government. We have no other option but to represent your interest…” Rt Hon. Edoror assured the pensioneers that the appropriate committee of the House will look into the grievances of the pensioneers and whatever is due to them will be paid to them at the end of the day.
Again, the Speaker, EDHA said, as proactive as the Comrade Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is, he has instructed that the Local Government Chairmen will forfeit their security votes for the payment of salaries of local government staff. He also emphasised that the man that is currently piloting the affairs of the Country, President Muhammadu Buhari is also not leaving any stone unturned with respect to blocking all the loopholes of siphoning public funds to private use, that was the order of the day before now.
Finally, Rt. Hon. Edobor, advised the pensioneers to make thirty copies of their protest letters and submit it to the House of Assembly through the Public Relations Officer of the House.
