On Sunday 10th May 2026, the people of Edo State, and indeed Nigerians and the world at large, received with rude shock the barbaric murder of a student called Alex Omoijiate, a University of Benin student who was said to have just finished writing his exams. ECTS Mgt Board Hails Edo Gov. For Fulfilling Promise By: Oriaifoh Godwins The Edo City Transport Services, ECTS, Management Board, in a Press statement, dated 5th May 2026, signed by the Chairman of the Board, Hon. Chief Robert Okoinemen, has hailed the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for his commitment to fulfilling promises made to the people, particularly in the area of transportation.  The statement reads in part: "we express our sincere appreciation for the arrival of the brand new CNG-powered buses, fully equipped with air-conditioning systems, which are already being deployed to ease the transportation challenges faced by residents across Edo state".  "We the Management Board, in-line with the Management of ECTS remain committed and ready to  deliver, as we are immensely thankful that His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Executive Governor of Edo state, is implementing the promises he made".
