NANS DISTANCES SELF FROM EDO GOVT., STRIPS SHUAIBU OF COMRADESHIP

NANS distances self from Edo govt., strips Shuaibu of Comradeship.
The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, an umbrella body of all Nigeria students, has condemned in very strong terms the violent and chaotic style of leadership of Edo state government, as well as the primitive activities of the Deputy Governor, Hon. Philip Shuaibu, especially with respect to the way and manner the deputy governor attempted to disrupt the conduct of the maiden convocation ceremony of the Edo University, Iyamho. The association's position, is contained in a press release below: NANS WORLD PRESS BRIEFING Aluta greetings to all. On behalf of the over 40.1 million Nigerian students spread across the globe we bring you greetings in the name of the struggle. We the serving executives of the National Association of Nigerian students (NANS) wishes to commiserate with the entire staff and student of the university of Benin over the death of one our student during a cult clash on campus, and also use this medium to appreciate the management team for the effort thus far in beefing up security within and around campus. However we want the management to do more in securing the lives of students especially now that exams are approaching and we do not want our students to approach exams in fear. We also want to solicit for the partnership of the commissioner of police with our Various institution to maintain law and order in the state as we have zero tolerance to cultism and crime in general. *STATE OF OUR INSTITUTIONS IN EDO* We want to at this juncture frown at the continuous closure of our state owned institutions by the Governor. We are aware that this government has a high comrade representation and our institutions seem to not be getting sufficient attention it deserves, the College of Education Ekiadolor which was upgraded to Tayo Akpata university by comrade Adams Oshiomole has remained closed ever since governor Obaseki’s emergence as governor of the state. Besides that, the College of Agriculture,Iguoriakhi is also devoid of academic activities, however there was a ground breaking ceremony and want the governor to expedite actions to complete the project as soon as possible. We wish to remind governor Obaseki that Nigerian students were an integral part of his emergence as governor and as such are excited as another election year is at the corner. Nigerian students want to tell Mr. governor that our education is our primary interest and if he continues to ignore the infrastructural decay as well as the gross lack of funding in the educational sector in the state we shall deny him our support come 2020 election !, in favor of a governor who is interested in the education of young Nigerians. Similarly, we want to totally condemn and register our displeasure and annoyance at the activities of the Deputy Governor of Edo state, Honorable Philip Shaibu aided by the Governor. Based on our fact findings on how he disrupted the sacred and reverenced occasion of the maiden convocation ceremony at our baby campus Edo University, Iyamoh. By Invading an academic tranquil environment with thugs on a motorcycle popularly known as "Okada" Comrades of the Nigerian students community are not thugs; hence, we refuse to associate with any conduct that paints us in that light. It is a pity that a custodian of the NANS charter of demand, a former NANS' President who is supposed to understand the importance of peace and tranquility on campus turned a Convocation Ceremony into a Campaign Rally. To this end, the leadership of Nigerian students hereby strip Hon. Philip Shuaibu, the Deputy Governor of Edo state, of his comradeship; as he never acted like a comrade and has shown no indication that he can act like a comrade. Finally to Comrade Adams Aliu Oshiomole, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who in spite of the political turbulence in the state waddled the path of peace, we endear you to continue to toll the path of peace and remain a peace loving leader. As growth and development strive in a peaceful Environment even the bible says in the book of Matt:5vs 9 that “ blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called children of God”,in all of this you've indeed proven that you are truly a Child Of God. God bless Nigerian Students God bless Edo State God bless Nigeria E Soweto E Africa! SIGNED COMRD ARIGBE VICTOR INCUMBENT DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL DUTIES NANS ZONE 'B COMRD Eleonoteh A Joseph INCUMBENT ASG NANS ZONE 'B COMR. IGBERHI J.
