EDO: THE EVIL OF 9:30PM

THE EVIL OF 9:30 PM AND THE WOES IN EDO

               EDO: The evil of 9:30pm

 By: Oriaifoh Godwins

It is stated clearly in the Holy Bible that, the thief commeth in the night to steal, kill and to destroy.

In view of this statement, it is important for the people of Edo state to recall all the woes that has been happening in Edo state since the 9:30pm inauguration of Edo state House of Assembly on the 17th of June, 2019.

On the said date and time, under the cover of darkness, with thugs backed up by armed security personnel to ward off and possibly kill any intruder, just as it is done by cultists when they conduct the initiation of their new members, so was the manner the ‘inauguration’ of a new Assembly of lawmakers in Edo state was conducted on the said date; and since then, Edo state knew no peace.

First, it was the use of thugs backed up by the Police to chase duly elected members out of Edo state, and the Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki was seen in a video telling them he is waiting for them to return to Edo state. Why??? So he can finish his unfinished business?

Again, Edo people also heard of the quarrels and exchange of blows that erupted between the night Speaker, Frank Okiye, and Marcus Onobun, the elected member to represent Esan West Constituency, and how the latter threatened to beat up the former, if not for the timely intervention of the people around.

Edo people have seen how thugs invaded the home of a popular All Progressive Congress, APC, Chieftain in Benin, and how he was almost attacked, if not for the intervention of well meaning Edolites. They have also witnessed how thugs invaded the home of the National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, in Benin, and the subsequent intervention of the law enforcement agents.

Recently, all the Special Assistants, SA’s, and Senior Special Assistants, SSA’s, to the governor of Edo state, were all relieved of their appointments, reason being that, some of them were suspected of not being in support of the violent style of leadership, use of force and undue process happening in Edo state. Therefore, a ‘sieve’ of the aides was made, and the perceived non conformists, permanently relieved of their appointments, and those that are ready to support the continuity of the new style of governance, reappointed.

Edo people have also witnessed the selective and unceremonial removal from office, of duly elected Chairmen of Local governments and the removal of several political appointees in local governments.

Again, the announcement of the bringing down of illegal structures, by the government was taken with a pinch of salt by Edolites, and the suspicion was justified as it was soon discovered that it is targeted at perceived enemies to the government.
From all the foregoing, there is no doubt that the thief truly cometh in the night to steal, kill and to destroy.

EDO PEOPLE ARE WATCHING AS EVENTS ARE BEING RECORDED ON THE SANDS OF TIME.
