EDO GUBER: Obaseki booed at the Oba's Palace

Obaseki disgraced, booed as chants of ‘thief’ greet him at the Palace of the Oba of Benin The Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, was left deflated and completely disgraced today at the Palace of the Oba of Benin after his convoy was blocked by angry residents, numbering in hundreds, who booed and disparaged the Governor as a thief. Governor Obaseki was reportedly at the Palace for royal blessings as he flagged off his campaign as the candidate of the PDP in the Governorship election. Upon sighting his convoy from a small distance, the people, hitherto rejoicing and making merry as is usual at the ancient Palace, immediately formed an angry mob of protesters and confronted the embattled Governor with chants of “thief” and other disgraceful epithets, demanding that he leaves the Palace and not “pollute the environment with his dishonorable self.” Obaseki and his accompanying aides were left perplexed and all attempts to salvage the situation only further angered the crowd who ins

OBASEKI: POWER, IS A SEDUCING MISTRESS

Obaseki: Power is a seducing mistress   By Tony Erha   Whilst in the web of forming the thoughts that would flow before this paragraph, the bottom line is that the forgoing narrative certainly befits the situations of Mr. Godwin Obaseki, the fifth elected governor of Edo, a vibrant state of Nigeria, which goes by a fitting epithet, “The Heartbeat of the Nation”. However, this is taking into account all the pervading conflicts and uncertainties that have enveloped the state, with his four year incumbency setting Edo polity a labyrinth of misgovernment and lawlessness. Like the brimstones droppings from hell! Power is an intoxicant. An intoxicant is a stimulant which usually takes over a man’s reasonable faculty until it wears out. But, this writer is not the manufacturer of these axioms. For he, like the others, had been frequently reminded by an overused parlance that power intoxicates a man much more than "Ogogoro", the strong Nigerian alcoholic brew which although appea

AONDOAKA IN THE NEWS AGAIN? ...he should be tamed

Aondoakaa in the news again? He should be tamed   By: Oriaifoh Godwins   I read a piece written by one Omar Yahaya titled “Aondoakaa’s insatiable ambition, need for caution” regarding the several fraudulent practices of a one-time Attorney General of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mr. Aondoaka, with respect to his clandestine plans to blackmail and intimidate some persons just because he wants to take over Benue Hotels; Its appalling and disappointing for a man of his status, in spite of all the wealth he has acquired over the years, to again begin to swim in Murky waters in an attempt to acquire what belongs to his State, Benue State. Omar Yahaya chronicled some of Aondoaka’s past financial atrocities, but after researching into them, more revelations emerged. For instance, it can be recalled that the fight against Ribadu by Aondoakaa, intensified as a result of Ribadu’s insistence to prosecute the former Governor of Delta State, James Ibori as a result of the chain of fraudulent

Aondoakaa insatiable ambition, needs cautioning

Aondoakaa's insatiable ambition, need for caution. BY OMAR YAHAYA. The ripples that has been trailing the controversy surrounding the planned taking over of Benue Hotel, In recent time, by some greedy, self-centered and gluttonous elements calls for serious questioning and every well meaning Nigerian should assist the people of Benue state in cautioning and eventually stopping these set of vampires from actualizing their sinister plans. It will be recalled that years back, some faceless civil society groups were sponsored to make spurious allegations against a onetime Managing Director of NEXIM bank, Mr. Robert Orya, who served the bank meritoriously and created, livelihood opportunities for several Benue Youths who are today better for it. When I read an online publication where a reporter wrote that; “…it will be recalled that immediately after he (Orya) left NEXIM bank, he allegedly withdrew…. “is enough to write off such report as a sponsored report hence, fake. Is it po
