2023: Group express concern in Benue

2023: Group  express concern  over attempt to blackmail EX NEXIM Bank boss

A Tiv social cultural organisation called Tiv Youths Organisation ( TYO) ,Ushongo branch, has condemned attempt by a faceless group to blackmail the former Managing Director of Nigerian Export/ Import Bank ( NEXIM) Mr. Robert Orya over 2023 election in Benue state.

The former MD of NEXIM Bank Robert Orya, hails from Ushongo local Government area in Benue state alongside former Attorney General of the federation ( AGF) and Minister of Justice Mike Aondoakaa, former chairman of Economic and Financial Crime Commission ( EFCC) Farida Waziri, who held swey during the  late president  Musa Yar' Adua adminstration .

In a press statement signed by  the President of the youth group; Orduen Aernan and made available to journalists, he advised that Mr. Orya should be allowed to live his private life in peace after serving the country as MD of NEXIM Bank.

Comrade Orduen  condemned the petition against Orya by a faceless group from Benue state saying no attempt should be made to drag the hard earned reputation of the MD of NEXIM into the mud  because of 2023 general election in Benue state which is three years away .

On the acquisition of Benue Hotel shares that a group had earlier made allegations against Robert Orya on, Comrade Orduen stated that due process was followed and the facility obtained is being serviced in line with the loan agreement just as they said he has not defaulted in payment.

According to TYO, while Mr. Orya held sway at NEXIM as MD,  some  Benue people benefited from loans given by the bank while others got employed and wonder why the same people are bent on destroying him with series of fictitious petitions and faceless media campaigns, said TYO.

The group noted that while it was the effort of  Robert Orya as MD of NEXIM that Benue Hotel Limited was revamped so as to create employment opportunities to  over 100 Benue indigenes, as it has done, nothing has been done to other moribund companies in the state. In view of this, he advised Benue people to promote unity above divisive tendencies; as that is the only way by which Benue state can achieve meaningful and sustainable development in the interest of all.

Daily Watch gathered that some people in Benue state, in trying to achieve their Political, personal and sinister objectives, have petitioned the former MD of NEXIM Bank over his role in the acquisition of shares in Benue Hotel Makurdi.

There is also rumour that the ex MD of NEXIM bank may throw his hat into the 2023 Benue governorship race even though he is yet to make his intention public. In view of all of these, Comrade Orduem concluded, the people of Benue state as well as those resident there, should be well informed and fully understand certain things that are happening behind the scene.
