TEACHERS’ DAY: ECLG Chairman HailsTeachers As Pillars of Societal Development

The Chairman of Esan Central Local Government Area, Hon. Prince Abdullahi Momodu, has celebrated teachers in the local government on the occasion of the 2026 World Teachers’ Day, commending them for their dedication, sacrifices and invaluable contributions to the education and development of the younger generation.
In a goodwill message to mark the occasion, the Chairman described teachers as indispensable partners in the development of society, noting that their responsibilities go far beyond classroom teaching.
According to the Chairman, teachers play a critical role in shaping the character, knowledge, values and future of children and young people, thereby contributing significantly to the building of a responsible and productive society.
Prince Momodu commended teachers across Esan Central for their patience, dedication and commitment to duty, particularly in the face of the numerous challenges confronting the teaching profession.
He stressed that no society could achieve meaningful and sustainable development without a strong and functional education system, adding that teachers remain at the heart of such a system.
The Chairman said; "...my administration recognises the vital role teachers play in building a better future for Esan Central Local Government Area, and will continue to support initiatives that are aimed at improving education and creating a conducive environment for effective teaching and learning".
"I urge.all teachers to continue to uphold the ethics and dignity of their profession, inspire their students and remain committed to excellence. Teachers are nation builders and custodians of the future.”
The ECLG Chairman also called on parents, community leaders, governments and other stakeholders to accord teachers greater support, respect and recognition for their contributions to society.
He equally encouraged teachers to embrace continuous learning, innovation and the use of modern approaches to education in order to effectively respond to the changing needs and demands of the 21st-century learner.
Hon. Momodu wished all teachers in Esan Central a happy and rewarding Teachers’ Day, assuring them of his administration’s appreciation for their invaluable service to humanity and the development of the local government.
Concluding, Prince Momodu said; i“To all our teachers in Esan Central, we celebrate you today and always. Thank you for shaping minds, nurturing talents and building the future of our communities. Happy Teachers’ Day!”
