Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, how far can he go? By Oriaifoh Godwins The above question is what has been on the lips of some Edolites since Monday, 8 th June 2015 when Rt. Hon. Victor Sabor Tiger Edoror was sworn in and assumed the position of the Speaker, Edo state House of Assembly. While the optimists and those that know the erudite, shrewd, focused and purpose driven lawmaker very well, are not in any way in doubt with respect to what the man at the helm of affairs of the law making arm of Edo state can do to deliver and put Edo state on the pedestal of the next level, the pessimists and the doubting Thomases are in doubt with respect to how far he can go. Edo Speaker looks forward to seeing more working legislators By Oriaifoh Godwins Speaker, Edo state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Sabor Edoror, in his inaugural speech, has reminded the members of Edo House of Assembly of the need for them to Honourable Victor Edoror be ‘Working Legislators’. I n his inaugural speech, Edoror said; ‘… As you are all aware that I am popularly known as and called “The Working Legislator” in my constituency, Esan Central Local Government Area, I look forward to seeing more “Working Legislators” before the end of the 6 th Assembly. Speaking with Nigerian Pilot Saturday, after his inauguration, Rt. Honourable Victor Edoror emphasised that the days of arm chair representation is over, and over for good; saying, as a representative of a constituency, the people have entrusted him with a responsibility, as such, he must strive to ensure that he delivers the dividends of democracy to his people more than what he has done before now.

Ghana petrol station inferno kills scores in Accra At least 96 people have died in a fire at a petrol station in Ghana's capital, Accra, the fire service says. The fire started as people in the city are trying to cope with two days of heavy rain, which has left many homeless and without power. The flooding hampered rescue efforts and may have led to the fire, the BBC's Sammy Darko reports from Accra. There are fears that the number of dead could rise as the search of the site continues. Prof. Osinbajo Locked Out Of President Buhari’s Security Meeting Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo was ‘locked out’ of President Muhammadu Buhari’s meeting with the National Security Adviser on the orders of the President. Trent is reporting that a  top  Government source who pleaded anonymity disclosed on Wednesday that Vice-President Osinbajo was refused ‘security clearance’ to attend the meeting as a result of security concerns by the Commander-in-Chief allegedly over what he described as a “very sensitive meeting”.
