Today, Friday 4th April 2025, the Governor of Edo state, Senator Monday Okpebholo, accompanied by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Barr. Musa Ikhilor Esq, the Commissioner of Finance, Lucky Eseigbe, Chairman, Esan Central Local Government, ECLG, area, Rt. Hon. Kelvin Iyere Ainiyelenhimi, and a host of other government functionaries, visited the Okaijesan of Esanland and the Ojirrua of Irrua Kingdom, Alhaji W. O. Momodu II, JP, CON, to formally inform him of his victory at the Election Petition Tribunal.

From the Okaijesan palace, governor Okpebholo immediately left for the Okaijesan Hall, where a mammoth crowd were anxiously awaiting to receive the working governor.


In his opening speech to the people, Governor Monday Okpebholo, who borrowed a line from Emperor Wadada's song, who was live on stage at the event, said; "...we want to know who owns the land".


Continuing, Governor Monday Okpebholo said, the first thing we did when we won election, is to make sure that we fixed the road to Benin, and the Ekpoma axis of the road, that was an eyesore.


The governor also announced that, the contract for the double lane of the road that leads from Ebhoakwala-Ekpoma, to Ubiaja, has been awarded.


Governor Okpebholo also said; "I am an Esan man, I am an Edo man, I know what our problems are, and we will fix them all.


"They have been shouting, but Edo People unequivocally spoke through the ballot box.


"Even now that, we have defeated them at the Tribunal, they say they want to appeal..."


Finally, Okpebholo used the opportunity to announce to all, that the interest free loan that he earlier announced, for market women, will be disbursed in the next two weeks, as compilation of names of people that are interested in the loan, is ongoing.


Those that also spoke to the people, thanking them for their steadfastness, loyalty and support for the party, include the Commissioner for Finance, Barr. Lucky Eseigbe, Elder Willy Shaka Momodu, who spoke for Esan Central Local Government, Hon. Irene who spoke for Esan west, and a host of others.


It will be recalled that, a couple of days after his 2024, Edo gubernatorial election victory, Governor Monday Okpebholo, visited the Okaijesan, and the people of Esanland, in same manner.
