…not a faction of APC -Chief Francis Inegbeniki

An All Progressives Congress, APC, Chieftain in Edo state, Chief
Francis Inegbeniki, the Uzoya of Esanland and the Atayeshe of Lagos, aka, Kabiyesi, has reiterated that the Edo Peoples Movement, EPM, is a pressure group and
not a faction of the party, as some people erroneously think and that,
the movement is formed to ‘flog’ every erring government in Edo state
into line, as it is on a rescue mission to prevent Edo APC from
collapsing.
Chief Inegbeniki said this on Sunday, 22nd September in Irrua, the
headquarters of Esan Central local government area of Edo state while
inaugurating the local government chapter of the movement.
Speaking on the essence of EPM, Chief Inegbeniki who said EPM
shouldn’t be seen as a faction, but as a movement that represent the
interests of the generality of the real and unalloyed members of APC
in Edo state, and not a movement that represents the interest of any
particular person or persons, added that: “…if the right thing is not
urgently done now, to stem the ugly trend of events that some have
today, inflicted on APC in Edo state, the party may eventually lose
Edo state… God forbid for this to happen…” continuing, Chief
Inegbeniki said, a good number of members of the APC in Edo state,
have been members of the party even before the Edo state governor, Mr.
Godwin Obaseki joined the party, hence, are older than the governor as
far as the membership of the party is concerned, added that: “…a
number of us has spent our time, money, intellect and connections to
see Edo APC get to the level that it currently is, and we cannot open
our eyes and watch the party destroyed by those pursuing their selfish
interests…”.
Chief Francis Inegbeniki, who emphasized on the fact that, there
currently exist leadership failure in Edo APC, as those at the helm of
affairs have been found wanting on several fronts, however thanked God
that the current APC executive in the state, will soon be dissolved.
On his part, Hon. Patrick Ikhariale, a onetime representative of Esan
Central/Esan West/Igueben Federal constituency, while speaking at the
event, berated Governor Godwin Obaseki for making a mockery of
democracy by orchestrating and supporting the recent nocturnal and
charade inauguration of the Edo state House of Assembly, which he
described as a slap on the face of democracy and an embarrassment to
Edo people. Hon. Ikhariale said; “…the beauty in the practice of
democracy, is the popular and general participation in the
electioneering process where the majority will eventually have their
way, and in a situation where any leader is interested in any
particular candidate, the best that such leader can do, is to lobby
the electorates for his preferred candidate, not by scheming people
out and kidnapping some others and forcing them to part take in a
nocturnal inauguration that is normally suppose to be an open
celebration…”.
The hall of the event which was filled to capacity, also had in
attendance, several APC, leaders across the 10 wards in Esan Central
local government area, including; Chief Ubene, a onetime Esan central
APC Chairman, Ward 8, Prince Willy Shaka Momodu, of Ward 6, Chief
Abudu Ugbesia of Ward 1, Mr. Famous Ogbekhilu of Ward 10, Dr. White of
Ward 2, Barr. Moneb Eboigbe amongst several others.
