Edo APC, CTC Chair greet Edo people on New Year celebration, salutes resilience, patience

The Chairman, Caretaker Committee of Edo State APC, Col David Imuse Rtd has congratulated Edo people as they mark the New Year festivities and for their resilience and patience especially in the face of Governor Godwin Obaseki's rudderless government in Benin City. In a New Year message to Edolites and signed by Chris Azebamwan, the  State Publicity Secretary of the APC in the State, Col  Imuse called for prayers to God so that the present administration in the State can come up with ideas on how to deploy the huge security votes the Governor collects monthly to mobilize the security agencies in the State to better protect the lives and properties of Edo citizens. He commiserated with all families and relatives of victims of the unending spate of kidnapping and killings, especially on the Benin-Ekpoma Highway and said he was greatly encouraged by the determination displayed by the security agencies, in the face of a nonchalant Governor who pays lip service to being Chief Security

Edolites are fed up with PDP, Obaseki

Press Statement: Edolites are Already Fed Up With PDP and Obaseki's excuses -Col. David Imuse Rtd. The Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Edo state, Col David Imuse Rtd, has described recent claims by Dr Tony Aziegbemi, the State Chairman of the PDP, that Governor Godwin Obaseki is suffering from insomnia over how to secure the lives and properties of Edo people as a huge slap on the sensibilities of Edo people. The APC chairman said it is wrong for the PDP chairman to expect the  Governor Obaseki to be sleeping while Edo people are daily having sleepless nights because of the criminal siege on the state. He said the PDP should tell the governor that the huge security vote of over N700million he collects monthly from Edo State coffers, is solely for funding security agencies in the state, and that his tenacious hold on the monies by refusing to deploy it to fund security agencies is what is fuelling insecurity in the state. "The PDP Chairman

State of the nation: Catholic Church reacts

Bishop Kukah vs Buhari: Catholic church finally reacts to comment on State of the nation The leadership of the Catholic Church has thrown it’s weight behind the Bishop of the Sokoto Diocese, Dr. Hassan Kukah over his last week’s comment on the State of the nation. Reacting to the development, in a statement issued on Monday by the National Directorate of Social Communications of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria in Abuja, the church urged lovers of truth and justice to rise in defence of Bishop Kukah against the attack on his person and the attempt to discredit the simple obvious truth in his message. Bishop Kukah had in his Christmas message to Nigerians lamented the endless woes, which he said had befallen the country. He further said that the prospects of a failed state stares Nigeria in the face, with: “endless bloodletting, a collapsing economy, social anomie, domestic and community violence, kidnappings, armed robberies. “But what may have irritated those who attacked his mess

On the brink of removal? Bell tolls for Obaseki

FORGERY AND PERJURY: Bell Tolls for Obaseki on the Brink of Removal .Abuja High Court to Try Offences on Thursday .Governor Begs Supreme Court to Stop His Trial  By Sebastine Ebhuomhan Sometime in June of 2020, the sword of disqualification was dangling precariously over the head of Governor Godwin Obaseki in the Edo State All Progressives Congress (APC). Quickly, the helmsman rushed to the press, somewhere in Benin City, where he displayed his educational certificates to his invited audience, raising the certificates to the razzle-dazzle of photographs and photoshops, with the aim of countering allegations that he was criminally parading forged documents. He had insisted at the event that he had genuine certificates that were intact contrary to his own earlier claim in 2016 that the originals were missing. He reiterated that his certificates had no error, whatsoever. Obaseki further allayed fears by promising to produce his certificates any day, anytime to shut and shame his more qua

Edo governor certificate forgery, perjury case: Crux of the matter

Edo governor certificate forgery, perjury case: Crux of the matter The contention in Court is not whether Godwin Obaseki is an alumni of UI or otherwise. The contention is that Godwin Obaseki forged his UI Bachelor certificate because the certificate he submitted in 2020 is different from the one he submitted in 2016. One was apparently forged as there cannot be two certificates for one degree for one person. Secondly ,that Godwin Obaseki was not qualified to be admitted into any first degree course in UI with his three credits, excluding English and Maths where he scored F9 and he has not sufficiently shown that he had a special admission. If he fraudulently got the admission , the BA Classics he submitted to INEC is tainted.  Lastly, that Godwin Obaseki supplied contrasting and diametrically opposed information to INEC. In 2016, he deposed to an affidavit that he finished from Eghosa Anglican Grammar School in 1973 and "proceeded immediately" (his words) to UI to study cla

APC demand Governor Obaseki's immediate resignation

APC demand Governor Obaseki's Immediate Resignation Less than two months after he was sworn into office, the Edo State Caretaker Committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Col David Imuse Rtd. has called for the immediate resignation from office of Governor Godwin Obaseki, because he appears has run out of ideas about how to govern the state. In a statement, Col Imuse said the call has become necessary because the Governor is failing in his duty of protecting the lives of Edo people, he has shown gross disregard for the rule of law and his personal interest is clashing with his official interest. He listed Governor Obaseki's failure to uphold his oath of office to protect the lives and properties of Edo citizens, his penchant for disobeying court orders and his decision to plunge Edo state into more indebtedness with his recent clandestine borrowing of N25billion from the capital market as the reasons for his call. The APC chairman said, "No one is safe in

Alledged double standard by Anselm Ojezua: Ignore Ojezua,----Ize Iyamu tells Buni

Alleged double standard by Anselm Ojezua Ize Iyamu asks Buni to ignore Anselm Ojezua  Okhide Em'ya David  The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the September 19 election in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has urged the National Caretaker Chairman of the APC, Mai Mala Buni, to ignore the tirades of a former factional Chairman of the party in Edo, Anselm Ojezua, describing him as a political double-dealer, who cannot be trusted. Buni, the Governor of Yobe State, and members of his national caretaker committee, last week, dissolved APC executives at the ward, local government and state levels nationwide, thereby formally constituting caretaker committees, pending when congresses would be conducted. Ize-Iyamu, a former Secretary to the Edo State Government (SSG), Wednesday in an online statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Prince John Mayaki, declared that Ojezua was planted as a mole in the APC by Governor Godwin Obaseki, when he defected t

Why Buhari, CJN AND APC CECPC MUST PREVENT 'FIXING' OF EDO ELECTION SUITS

Why Buhari, CJN and APC CECPC must Prevent ‘Fixing’ of Edo Election Suits By Sebastine Ebhuomhan President Muhammadu Buhari led the emergency meeting of National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the State House on Tuesday. The virtual meeting had Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Ahmad Lawan; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Right Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; APC-elected state governors and other leaders in attendance. The National Chairman of the APC Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) and Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, had late last month scheduled the meeting to review the party’s positions on issues challenging the party’s unity. The meeting ratified five resolutions to refocus APC on unity and sound leadership. The NEC empowered and extended the CECPC’s tenure by six months; granted waivers to new members; expelled its former national vice chairman for not exploring internal mechanisms to res

NORTHERN NIGERIA AND ITS FAILED POLITICAL INDUSTRY-DAN AGBESE

The North And Its Failed Political Industry Weep my Brother  -BY DAN AGBESE  DECEMBER 13, 2020    Chief Audu Ogbeh, immediate past minister of agriculture and chairman, ACF, was recently quoted as saying that politics is the only industry in Northern Nigeria. His statement intrigues me for two reasons. One, I have often wondered why the north which has ruled the country longer than all the other regions put together is in dire straits. If it is only the industry, then it must be an industry that has failed disastrously. Two, his statement reminds me of the famous statement made long ago by the late Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Sule. He said: “The northerners are endowed … with leadership qualities. The Yoruba man knows how to earn a living and has diplomatic qualities. The Igbo is gifted in commerce, trade… God so created us individually for a purpose. Others are created as kings, servants. We all need each other. If there are no followers, a king will not exist.” I am not sure he spoke for t

Meet us in Appeal court tommorow- APC lawyer tells Obaseki

“Meet us in Appeal Court tomorrow”, APC lawyer, Olujimi  tells Obaseki The All Progressives Congress (APC) says it was prepared to meet Governor Godwin Obaseki at the Court of Appeal over a case of forgery and perjury preferred against him by the APC and William Edobor at the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja. Chief Akin Olujimi who is the counsel to the plaintiffs told the court today that his interest was for the case to be heard and that he would appear at the court of appeal tomorrow for the continuation of the case. The plaintiffs in the suit marked FHC/B/CS/74/2020, prayed the court for an order disqualifying Obaseki from contesting the September 19 governorship election in Edo State on the grounds that he supplied false information on oath to INEC, an act said to be contrary to Section 31(5) and (6) of the Electoral Act, 2010. They accused the governor of forging his university certificate presented to INEC in aid of his qualification for the governorship election in Edo Stat

OBASEKI'S DELAY TACTICS TO FRAUSTRATE DISPENSATION OF JUSTICE

OBASEKI'S DELAY TACTICS TO FRAUSTRATE DISPENSATION OF JUSTICE From Godwin Tsa, Abuja A Chieftain of the Edo State All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr John Mayaki has accused Governor Godwin Obaseki of plots to delay his trial over alleged certificate forgery and perjury at the Abuja division of the Federal High Court. The politician was responding to the application by Governor Obaseki for the matter to be adjourned indefinitely to await the outcome of his pending appeal at the Court of Appeal. In the said appeal, the governor is challenging the refusal of Justice Ahmed Mohammad to expunge some paragraphs in the APC’s reply to his affidavit. But Mayaki described the interlocutory appeal as a plot to arrest justice at the lower court being a time bound trial.” According to Mayaki, “Edo people are worried and we want to call on the Chief Justice of Nigeria to prevail on the matter in the interest of justice and allow for an unhindered hearing in the case especially when the delay ta

Discrepancy in certificate suit against Ize Iyamu's running mate: Gani Audu wins in court

Abuja Court dismisses suit seeking to disqualify Ize-Iyamu’s running mate, Gani Audu.  A suit seeking to disqualify the Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the September 19th election in Edo state, Mallam Gani Audu has been dismissed.  The suit which was filed by the Action Democratic Party (ADP), alleged that Mallam Gani Audu, presented forged documents to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The case slated for ruling for the day was between Hon. Momoh Abdulrazak vs the APC in suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/758/2020. The plaintiffs had claimed that Mallam Gani Audu’s certificate was forged and containing some misleading discrepancies especially in name arrangement as submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).  The issue before the court was whether the matter had become academic, hypothetical, and having no live issue to be determined. In delivering it's ruling, the court raised two issues for determination - whether

NIGERIANS REACT TO OBASEKI'S CLAIMS ON ADEBOYE'S PROPHECY

NIGERIANS REACT TO OBASEKI'S CLAIMS ON ADEBOYE'S PROPHECY OF HIS VICTORY Following the claim by Governor Godwin Obaseki that Pastor Adeboye of The Redeemed Christian of God (RCCG) told him that he would win reelection, Nigerians have called out the governor. According to Nigerians on social media, the victory of Obaseki was not as a result of Adeboye's pronouncement. They claimed different factors contributed to his victory. Part of the factors is the dislike of former All Progressives Congress chairman, Adams Oshiomhole. *On Twitter, Lucky Azuka wrote:* "Edo people elected you, not Adeboye so fix Edo people's problem especially in areas of unemployment, insecurity, infrastructure development, health care and the education system, I know you can't solve the problem of electricity." "Edo citizens elected you not Adeboye, give your thanks to the citizens and fulfill your promises to them and stop attaching religion with politics. One man can't elect

OSHIOMHOLE BREAKS HIS SILENCE, says his position has not changed

My Position Has Not Changed By Adams Oshiomhole In reporting the legal action taken by a member of the dissolved National Working  Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), some attributions have been made to the effect that plaintiff is an “ally of Oshiomhole” or an “associate of Oshiomhole.” The court documents are clear on who is the plaintiff. For the avoidance of doubt, the 21-member NWC under my leadership largely worked cohesively and harmoniously. The only exceptions were those of the three members used by forces desperate to take control of the party. They contrived a crisis and abused the judicial process to undermine the constitution and integrity of the party. The majority of 18 members worked as a  team and not as allies or loyalists of any body. When the  National Executive Committee (NEC) in its wisdom dissolved the NWC, I immediately announced publicly that I accepted the decision, regardless of its illegality or otherwise,  as it affected my position as

Fed High Court, kicked out Edo governor's application to stop his certificate forgery suit

Federal High Court dismiss Edo governor application to stop certificate forgery suit   A federal high court in Abuja today, Wednesday, has dismissed the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki‘s motion challenging his alleged forged certificate suit. It could be recalled that last month, the same court had adjourned the hearing of the alleged certificate forgery suit filed by the All Progressives Congress, APC, against him from November 16th to November 18th which was subsequently adjourned again. The adjournment followed the submissions by counsel to Obaseki, Mr Ken Mozia, that all pending motions relating to pleadings must first be resolved before going into the substantive matter. Mozia specifically asked the court to allow him move his motion challenging the competence of the reply filed by the APC to the defence in the matter. However, lawyer to the APC, Mr Akin Olujimi, objected to the position of the governor’s counsel on the pending motions. He pr
