It was all praises and thanksgiving on the final day that marked the 50th coronation anniversary celebration of the Ojirrua of Irrua and the Okaijesan of Esanland, Alhaji William Okoeguale Momodu II, JP, CON. The event which ended on Sunday, 27th June, at the Winners Chapel in Akho-Irrua, where the children and members of the Royal family, including the crown Prince, Major Jimah Momodu, were Present, was marked by praises and thanks giving.



The officiating Minister, Pastor Gabriel Akinlola, said, it can only  be God that gives long life, and for a monarch to celebrate his Golden Jubilee on the throne, is remarkable.


The previous day, Saturday, 26th June was the Grand FInale day, that was held in a grand style at Eguare Primary School, Irrua, in Esan Central Local government area of Edo state.


The Grand Finale, that attracted eminent personalities from all walks of life, including people from different political parties, religion background and ethnicity, was laden with variegated colours of activities to spice up the occasion.


Highlight of the event, include the cutting of the anniversary cake by the Okaijesan and conferment of Chieftaincy titles and Honorary awards to eminent personalities, Esan and non Esans, who have distinguished themselves in their various areas of endeavors and also added value to Irrua kingdom in one way or the other. Speaking on his reasons for conferring Chieftaincy titles and honoring some persons, the Ojirrua of Irrua said; “…it is my own special way of thanking them for what they have been doing and are still doing to make Irrua kingdom and Esanland proud… it is a way of encouraging them to do more, so as to positively affect people’s lives…” amongst those conferred with Chieftaincy titles include; Professor Ignatus Onimawo, former Vice Chancellor, Ambrose Alli University, Ambassador Martin Uhomoibhi, Chief Benson Odaman and others, while those that were given honorary awards, include Professor Sylvanus  Okougbeni, the Chief Medical Director of Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Hon. Joe Ikpeah, former Commissioner for Oil and Gas in Edo state,…..amogst others.


The Igbabonelimin dance band, Asonogo Dance band, Igbo cultural dance, were all there to entertain guests with their music and dance steps as Afile Dance band provided music for the event.


Present at the event were some All Progressive Congress, APC, Chieftains, including Hon. Joseph Ikpea, Hon. Victor Edoror, Prince Willy Shaka Momodu and a host of others. While  the people Democratic Party, PDP, leaders, including Chief Tom  Ikimi, Hon. Barr. Anslem Ojezua, Chief Joe Edionwelle, Member representing Esan Central/ Esan West/igueben Federal constituency. Also present was Hajia Aishetu Oshiomhole, the Mother of the former Governor of Edo stateThe Senator representing Edo Central, Senator Clifford Odia was the Chairman of the Occasion while the proprietor of Mudiame University, Irrua, was the Chief Host.
