One of world's longest reigning Monarchs marks 50years on throne.
The Ojirrua of Irrua and Okaijesan of Esanland, His Royal Highness, Alhaji W. O. Momodu II, JP, CON, one of the world's longest reigning monarch, on Wednesday, 16th June, harped on the need for Nigerians to abhor acrimonious spirits and come together as one so we can achieve a lasting peace, progress and development.
Speaking with a team of Journalists, the monarch, who listed the establishment of the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Irrua, Edo state, a federal government tertiary health institution, Mudiame University, Irrua and other small and medium enterprises all in Irrua, pointed out that the relative peace prevailing in Irrua, as well as the hard working and resilient nature of Esan people, made all these possible.
Briefing newsmen on activities lined up for the seven days Celebration, scheduled to kick of on Monday, 21st June,
he assured local and international investors that Irrua and the entire Esan land is a safe haven for investment; urging them to come and invest in Irrua and any other part of Esan land.
"Fifty years on throne has been a very tasking and challenging one, but just like all other challenges faced by all men, God has always been there to see me through. To God be all the glory." He said.
The Okaijesan of Esanland also used the media briefing to appeal to Nigerians to champion the revival of our culture, and ensure that Nigeria languages, which is our identity does not go into extinction.
