A Non-Governmental Organisation, Josemaria Escriva has adequately bridged the existing gap between the effective teaching and learning activities of the Edo Best programme of Edo state government as teachers hails the various creativities they have acquired from the workshop tagged: “Teachers for Effective Service Delivery, TESD Project 2022” facilitated by Josemaria Escriva Foundation and sponsored by TY Danjuma Foundation.
During the closing ceremony that held on Monday, 17th October 2022 at Akho Primary School, Irrua, Edo state, The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Josemaria Escriva, Professor Matthew Izibili, pointed out that, though Edo state government have very laudable curricular for the pupils as designed and presented in “Edo Best”, the implementation of the programme is another task and Josemaria Escriva saw the lacuna, hence the workshop that was organized across Esanland to educate the teachers on the need to improvise by using local materials that the pupils can easily relate with so the pupils can benefit maximally from Edo Best programmes.
Professor Izibili said; ‘…what we are witnessing today, is the closing ceremony of the workshop for Teachers for Effective Service Delivery, TESD, Project…’
Continuing, Professor Izibili said; ‘…we noticed that teachers always complained of a stereotyped and structured method as presented by Edo Best programmes, but with the various improvisations introduced to the teachers in the course of the workshop, it made things a lot more easier for both the teachers and the pupils to teach and learn respectively as practical materials that the pupils are already used to, are introduced as teaching aids. We can all see the testimonies presented by the teachers during the "success stories" session of today's event. He encouraged the teachers that benefitted from the workshop to extend same knowledge to other teachers, pointing out that, by so doing, more pupils will benefit as the pupils are the eventual targets.
Professor Matthew Izibili, who said it is not out of place to teach the pupils in Esan dialect, added that, the bottom line is for the teachers to be able to effectively pass the message to the full understanding of the pupils. This is the only way that communication in the classroom can be effective.’ He said.
Present at the closing ceremony of the event, are the Esan Central Local Government Area Education Secretary, Mrs Oni, the Responsibility officer of Josemaria Escriva, Comrade Jude Obasanmi, PhD, the representative of TY Danjuma Foundation, Miss Tomi Ajayi, The Chairman School Based Management Committee Mr. Onoigboria, Osanumese JP and Mr. Temitope Otokiti, both from Edo Best and a host of others.
