The environmental sanitation exercise that was scheduled to hold today, Saturday 26th April 2025, but was eventually postponed to allow for the writing of the Joint Admission Matriculation Board exam, partially held in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government, ECLG, area as the Chairman of the local government ordered that the refuse that had accumulated in Irrua market, be evacuated.

The Head of Department, Environment, of the local government area, Sanitarian Christiana A. Egbele, was on ground to supervise the cleanup of the refuse.

In a chat with Rt. Hon. Kelvin Iyere Ainiyelenhimi, the local government Council Boss, he said; "...for us in Esan Central Local Government Area, cleanliness is our watchword.

"It is good that our Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, who is also from Esan Central, has declared the resumption of the monthly Sanitation Exercise. This also attests to the fact that, we do not condone filth in this local government. So, if the resumption of the Sanitation Exercise was postponed as a result of the fact that it coincided with the date of the JAMB exam, it doesn't stop us from cleaning our environment, as cleanliness is next to Godliness".

Rt. Hon. Kelvin Iyere Ainiyelenhimi, who also pointed out that, before now, he had mapped out strategies for the take off of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise in Esan Central, hailed the governor of Edo state, Senator Monday Okpebholo for his decision for the monthly Sanitation Exercise to resume in the state.
