Ebira Community Installs Alhaji M. S. Abere as Overall Mouthpiece for Edo South

...General President Calls for Peace and Unity

On Sunday, 5 July 2026, the Ebira Community of Edo South, Edo State, Nigeria, adopted and swore in Alhaji M. S. Abere as the new General and Overall Mouthpiece (Odovidi Anebira) of Edo South.

The event, which held at Egba Community, Federal Estate Playground, Benin city, attracted several traditional entertainment and cultural groups including the Edinoni Cultural Group, the Ifesowopo Trado-medical Association, Edo state chapter, the Oriade Progressive Group, amongst others.


Speaking at the event, the Chairman, Edo State Traditional Medicines Board, TMB, High Chief Abudu Ugbesia, JP, who is also the Chairman of the occasion, welcomed everyone to the event, and congratulated Alhaji Abere, who he described as a committed member of Edo state Traditional Medicines Board, for the honour bestowed upon him by the Ebira Community.


In his address, the General President, Ebira Community, Edo South Comrade Mohammed Adamukako Yakubu who described Alhaji Abere as; "...our father, our leader, the President of all Presidents", added that, the emergence of Alhaji Abere as the new overall leader of Ebira Community in Edo South, will be marked by unprecedented peace wisdom and prosperity.


Continuing he said; "...the new Odovidi of the Ebira Community, is not just a leader, but the ultimate unifier of the Ebira people and a beacon of hope for generations to come".


Comrade Adamukako who maintained that the Ebira Community is not taking Alhaji Abere's williness to serve the community for granted, also on behalf of the community pledged their allegiance, prayers and  unalloyed support to the new overall mouthpiece, the Odovidi Enebira of Edo South.


Finally, Comrade Adamukako urged all Ebira Communities across Edo State to be united and do away with any form of acrimony, for the peace of mind of  members, and progress of the Ebira Community.


Highlight of the occasion, is the installation of Alhaji M.S Abere as the Odovidi Enebira of Edo South, cultural displays, and the display of several traditional activities, as well as presentations of gifts by different groups and associations present.


In an exclusive chat with Winning Media, High Chief Tr. Dr. Abudu Ugbesia, the Chairman Edo state Traditional Medicines Board, expressed confidence in the ability of Alhaji Abere to lead the Ebira Community in Edo South, saying; "...it takes wisdom to lead, and Alhaji Abere is a man of wisdom, an extrovert and a man of peace".


Alhaji M. S Abere, the new Odovidi Enebira of Ebira Community in Edo South, also spoke with our Correspondent. According to him; "the title, 'Odovidi', means the 'mouthpiece'. This title, bestows on me, the responsibility of coordinating and speaking for the Ebira Community and giving the right guidance in achieving our desired goal".


"The Edo South chapter of Ebira Community, rightly chose him, and I am very confident in his ability to meet the expectations of the community". Chief Abudu said. 


Other dignatories present at the event, include, Highness Mallam Ibrahim J. Musa JP, Odeyani of Edo state, Chief Saliu O. Salau, Odovidi of Ekpoma, Chief Mohammed Abdulraheem and Comrade Mallam Ganiyu Bello, Edo North President, Ebira Community.
