Plans to unleash mayhem on EDHA Members uncovered:.. Obaseki, Shuaibu, fingered

Plans to unleash mayhem on EDHA Members uncovered
*...Obaseki, Shuaibu fingered*

The Member representing Uhumhude constituency in Edo state House of Assembly, EDHA, Hon. Washington Osa Osifo, on Wednesday 18th August, revealed that information reaching some Members of EDHA, revealed that the Governor of Edo state, and his Deputy, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, and Hon. Phillip Shuaibu respectively, have perfected plans to again use thugs to attack Members of EDHA who have been peacefully carrying out their legislative duties, just like they did on the 19th of June last year when thugs backed by the Wabaizigan Police, and under the supervision of the then Chief Security Officer, CSO, to Edo state Government House, DSP Chris Nwokolo, attacked and intimidated them out of Edo state.

Hon. Osifo brought this to the fore during the Plenary of the House.
He used the opportunity to alert, and also appeal to all the security agencies, all well meaning Edolites, Nigerians and the world at large on this covert plan of the Edo state governor and his deputy; saying the same alert from same quarter was received by the Hon. Members before they were attacked on the 19th of June, last year, but it was treated lightly, as they never expected that a Chief Security Officer of the state could undertake to attack his citizen, let alone Members elected by different constituencies in Edo state.

Speaking, Hon. Osifo said; "...they are my friends, even though we currently differ in political views, and the first time it happened last year, I was shocked, in that, I never expected Hon. Philip Shuaibu that I see as my friend to be responsible for arranging for thugs to attack us..."

Continuing, Hon Osifo pointed out that the Nigerian constitution, that gave the governor and his deputy, the immunity they claim they have, and are enjoying, is the same constitution that guarantees the right to life for every citizen, and their right to immunity, is not superior to the right to life of those they are expected to protect.

Hon. Osifo concluded by saying; "...we will not hesitate to explore all legal avenues in seeking protection and justice, as the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, also gives us protection and right to our lives, and no one can under the guise of immunity, or whatsoever, take that from us, and if there are any such people, we must use this opportunity to put them on notice of our intentions...'

Responding, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror, who said the issues raised by Hon. Washington Osifo are germane, added that; " ...no man goes to war leaving his head at home, when you go to war, your head goes with you..." The Speaker asked the Clerk of the House to notify all the security agencies on this, as threats to lives of Members of the House, as well as that of the citizens of, and those resident in Edo state, will not be taken with levity.
