Elder Chief Okodogbe honoured at home, abroad

The Ovie of Oghara Kingdom, His Roral Majesty, Noble Oyibo Eshemitan, FCA, Orefe III, on Tuesday, August 9th, conferred the Chieftaincy title of 'Omotor of Oghara Kingdom' on Elder Chief Henry Okodogbe, in recognition of his exemplary character and his various contributions to Oghara Kingdom during the period when he was in Naval  service in Oghara, Delta state.





The conferrement of this Chieftaincy title, is one of the activities that marked the 10 years anniversary of the coronation of the Ovie of Oghara.

It will be recalled that on the 26th June, 2021, during the celebration of his 50th coronation anniversary, the Ojirrua of Irrua and the Okaijesan of Esanland bestowed Elder Chief Okodogbe with a honorary award.  This Chieftaincy title from the Monarch of Oghara Kingdom in Delta state, is another feather added to the myriad of recognitions of this illustrious son of Irrua Kingdom in Esanland, Edo state.

The letter of appreciation from the Ojirrua of Irrua and the Okaijesan of Esanland to the monarch of Oghara Kingdom, reads in part: "...On behalf of the Council of Traditional Chiefs and the entire people of Irrua kingdom in Esan central local government area of Edo state, I write to appreciate the honour you are bestowing on Elder Henry Okodogbe, one of my subjects, in recognition of his contributions to your kingdom during his stay in Oghara, Delta state, when he was in service.
Elder Henry Okodogbe, is one of our illustrious sons in Irrua kingdom and it will also interest you to know that he was also one of those that was honoured during the occasion of my 50th Coronation Anniversary, last year, 2021..."
The letter, read by Chief Dr. Frank Emiko, the Secretary, Oghara Traditional Council, was welcomed by a tumultuous round of applause, after which the Monarch of Oghara Kingdom pronounced the Chieftaincy title recepient,  Elder Henry Okodogbe with the title of the Omotor (son of the soil) of Oghara Kingdom.
Several Chiefs including Chief Godday Orhiorie, Chairman, Chieftaincy conferment Committee, Chief Dick Okporho, Secretary, Chieftaincy conferment Committee, Chief John Okorugbo, Chief Richard Abijor and several others were present at the palace.

High Chief Paul Itua, the Ojiede I of Irrua Kingdom and Chief Chris Igene, the Enakhe of Irrua Kingdom, represented the Ojirrua of Irrua and Okaijesan of Esanland at the event. 
Other dignitaries present, include Barr. Emmanuel Agbale, former Edo state Commissioner for Education and at another time, Commissioner for Science and Technology, Dr. Mccarthy Igiebor, the Managing Director, Sizzlers conglomerates, Chief Eric Ebozele, an established Oil and Gas business man, Barr. Austin Agbator, a one time Commissioner, EDSIEC and a host of others.





After the event at the palace, guests retired to Keldor Hotel where they were treated to variegated 'coloirs' of entertainment, including the Esan traditional entertainers, the Igbabonelimi acrobatic dancers.
