AMBROSE ALLI UNIVERSITY SHOULDN'T GO DOWN....Hon. Eboh

Ambrose Alli University, shouldn't go down

      -Hon. Peter Eboh

By: Oriaifoh Godwins

An All Progressive Congress, APC, Chieftain in Edo central Senatorial district of Edo state, Hon. Peter Eboh Osemudiamen, has called on Edo state Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, to urgently look into the anomalities that are currently ongoing in Ambrose Alli University, AAU, with a view to normalise the situation, saying; 'the University shouldn't go down...'

Hon. Eboh made this call recently in a chat with newsmen as Edo state marks the 31st anniversary of her creation.

Speaking, he said; '...it is very unfortunate that this is happening to Bendel state University, that later became Edo state University and today, Ambrose Alli University...'

Continuing, he said; '...Ambrose Alli University has a very long history as such, all the traditional rulers in Esan land, Political leaders as well as all well meaning Esan sons and daughters, should come together to find a lasting solution to the problem facing the university...'

According to Hon. Eboh, the Special Intervention Team, SIT, that was set up by the governor of Edo state, appears to be helpless in arresting the situation as there seems not to be any solution in sight. He said; '...a number of Ambrose Alli University staff, are either our friends, relatives or kinsmen, and as it stands, we all appear to be helpless as we cannot do anything about the worsening situation that the staff and students of the university are facing today. We can only sympathize with them, which is very unfortunate'.

Hon. Eboh said the government is owing the staff of the university salaries for several months and selective payments are made...some staff are paid for some months, while many others are not paid; again, recently, the school fee as well as the accommodation fee was increased...'how can the common man, especially those with more than one child in the university cope? He asked.

He however concluded by saying; '...I pray the worst that happened to the College of Education, Igueben, will not eventually happen to Ambrose Alli University...'.

  1. Everyone seems not to care but soon than later, the university may go into extinction like Igueben and Ekiadolor as well as Iguoriakhi college of Agriculture.
Ambrose Alli University today is a shame of itself.
