AFRICANS NEED TO REBRAND AFRICA...... AKON.

The American hip-hop singer, Akon in a viral video, said, as Africans, there is now the urgent need for us to begin to tell our stories: Film makers/Directors, entertainers, the Media... Should all begin to redefine how people see and think of Africa.

The number one branders in the universe, Akon said, is the United States of America. He said; '...they make the United States, look like it's the best place in the world to be. It's the land of the free, home of the brave... ' hence, anyone that sees all these compliments about the US, he said, look forward to be in the United States. The US, he said, downplay their dark sides, only to showcase the seemingly beautiful side.

On Sunday 10th May 2026, the people of Edo State, and indeed Nigerians and the world at large, received with rude shock the barbaric murder of a student called Alex Omoijiate, a University of Benin student who was said to have just finished writing his exams.
