EDO: SHUAIBU DARES OBASEKI

You cannot replace me with Orbih – Shaibu dares Obaseki.

By Nosa Bright Osayande.

A rift has ensued among the Governor Obaseki’s faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State.

The Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has allegedly entered open confrontation with the Governor over the rumour of his alleged moves to the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) without factoring the Deputy’s interest in the alleged deal.

Shaibu accused his boss of allegedly accepting a deal with the opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP, to get the opposition party’s ticket in exchange for the Deputy slot to be given to the opposition party’s outgoing chairman, Chief Dan Orbih, who is allegedly masterminding the deal that could see the APC lose her only government in the South South geopolitical zone.

Embittered Shaibu allegedly almost fought his principal, accusing him of betraying him after all he had done for him in his struggle against his predecessor, Adams Oshiomhole.

The deputy governor was allegedly in tears shouting at Governor Obaseki that the Governor was an ungrateful human, that despite the fact that the deputy had to go against his own kinsman and benefactor because of Obaseki. He allegedly told his aides that

“The governor is an ingrate to contemplate replacing me after the fight.”

OKPODU REPORTERS gather that the once sweet relationship between Governor Obaseki and his deputy became soured after the governor discovered that the deputy failed to manage the crisis in the state Assembly with the dissident members elect still not back to the fold and Obaseki losing control of many loyalists because of the bad handling of the crisis which the deputy allegedly mismanaged with a plot to rubbish the relationship between the governor and his godfather to pave the way for his second term ticket.

According to www.newsinfo.com, the governor allegedly confided in one of his close aides that he’s not even sure if the few members in the Assembly are truly on his side, not even the Speaker, Mr Okiye.

On the other hand, the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Ogie, is being accused by the governor of plotting to replace Obaseki by encouraging the rift between Obaseki and Oshiomhole to fester.

Ahead of the 2020 election in Edo State, Governor Obaseki has allegedly been secretly visiting opposition party members, stakeholders, the leaders and the South South PDP governors to get their commitment to assisting him with the PDP ticket since he isn’t guaranteed of the the APC second term ticket. He’s being aided by former governor of Edo State, Lucky Igbinedion and APC Chairman, Anselm Ojezua, who are both currently abroad with some PDP leaders holding clandestine meetings to perfect the arrangements.

This newspaper can authoritatively reveal that the embattled governor has perfected plans to dissolve his entire cabinet, including sacking his Secretary of State Government, Ogie, and orchestrate the speedy  impeachmento of his Deputy, Shaibu. Impeachment of Shaibu, it was gathered is the token to seal the move over of the governor to the PDP.

It is rumored that the PDP ticket would be sealed for the governor only after he’s replaced his deputy with the PDP Chairman sixty days before the PDP primaries. This explains why the PDP Chairman, despite pressures from his party men and leaders, has vehemently refused all entreaties to conduct early primaries for this is in order to give the governor enough time to fulfil the secret terms of their secret deals.

Meanwhile, Ogie and Shaibu have sent emissaries to the APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, to beg for his political pardon and reintegration into his mainstream faction of the APC and this, pundits predict, the movement of the governor to the APC would happen earlier than anticipated.

Meanwhile, Adams Oshiomhole, has gone to town shopping for a replacement for Obaseki and top on his preference list is billionaire Captain Hosa Okunbor who has been reluctant to accept the bait.
